The Lagoon & Snorkelling in Aitutaki
The lagoon in-front of Aitutaki Village offers good swimming and although there are quite a few reef fish to see in the lagoon whilst snorkelling, there is no coral reef in-front of Aitutaki Village - experienced snorkellers can head around the point at Ootu; to the west side of the island (half hour walk); or take a lagoon cruise. Aitutaki Village does not provide snorkel equipment for guests but you can rent snorkel, masks and fins by the day from a shop next door - snorkel equipment is provided for all guests on lagoon cruises. Please note that Aitutaki Island is a remote island location and there are no lifeguards patrolling the beaches or lagoon. Guests are responsible for their own safety and those of minors under their care.
